See if the PR's personal bank will certify his signature.

And last time I did this in fall of 2015, I called the Savings Bonds people
in Minneapolis because the check for the redeemed savings bonds had not
arrived after 5 weeks.
I was told that there was a 12 week processing time for getting the check
(and had been a 12 week processing time for the last year.)
(And then it went on longer because the certifying officer had not put the
date in the certification block on the form and Savings Bond people sent
back the form and we had to do it again.)

Generally with an estate, I do not believe a local bank will deal with the
bonds.
I think they have to go back to Minneapolis.

Subject: [WSBAPT] Redeeming US Savings Bonds

I am assisting a PR of an estate; widowed housewife, married to high school
teacher; decedent was a few days short of 106 and was evidently frugal. Not
a taxable estate.
There are about $500,000 of U.S. Savings Bonds: HH; and EE;
My client learned that whatever he signs to redeem these; he will have to
have his signature Medallion Guaranteed. He also has been working over the
internet with a bank? back east.
I am wondering what is the best way to redeem hundreds of bonds (they are
paper bonds) and what entity (bank or whatever) is the easiest and best to
work through.
