[WSBAPT] Joint probate - joint Estate account?

I opened under the husband's SSN and obtained one EIN.  We opened one estate account and it worked just fine.
A CPA might need to weigh in as we had only a home as an asset and one bill to DSHS.  So, small estate with no retirement accounts to deal with.  Also, one son as heir.

Listmates,



Husband and wife died within days of each other. If I open a joint probate, can I also open one Estate account?  Will the IRS issue an EIN for the joint estate (if so, would you just use one decedent's social security number), or would each decedent's estate need a separate EIN?

Has anyone opened an estate account after commencing a joint probate, and how was it handled?  One joint account, or two separate accounts?
