Brent,

I have done temporary POAs to be used out of the country. I assume he would have his parent as AIF. However, if he is traveling with someone, he should consider making that person a second choice for convenience. I have used a special POA with a termination date of “(planned date of return) or on my return to the US, whichever is later.”

Subject: [WSBAPT] Medical Power of Attorney - Out of Country Usage

Good Afternoon!

I have clients who's now 18 year old son will be traveling out of the country later this month. They asked about the efficacy of having a Washington State Medical POA with him so that should something happen that they will have authority to authorize treatment and/or get information should there be a need.

Appreciate any tips, suggestions, guidance is appreciated.

Thank you,

Brent
