[WSBAPT] Small Bequest to Lost Heir

I recently did the statutory process for appointing an agent to hold the inheritance under RCW 11.76.200 et seq.<http://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=11.76&full=true#11.76.200> It's a bit of a hassle and the agent has to post bond, but it's really the only statutorily sanctioned solution short of having the absentee declared dead under Ch. 11.80 RCW<http://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=11.80&full=true>.

Sincerely,

Eric

Subject: [WSBAPT] Small Bequest to Lost Heir

Greetings All!

I am representing the PR of an estate with a long-lost beneficiary. The Will leaves a very modest cash bequest to this missing beneficiary. Nobody knows where the beneficiary is, or if he is alive or dead. Any reasonable attempt to locate the beneficiary would likely cost more than the amount of the bequest.
Has anyone dealt with this type of situation before? Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Jared
