[WSBAPT] Creditor's claim: credit card

Listmates,

 

Decedent and surviving spouse had a joint credit card. Let's assume we
give actual notice to the credit card company and the company fails to
file a proper claim. My understanding is the entire debt, even as
against the surviving spouse's community property, is discharged. Does
the failure to pay the bill (because of the lack of a proper claim) have
any effect on the surviving spouse if she wishes to keep a card with the
institution?
