[WSBAPT] Attempting to Locate Probate Assets

I am working with a PR who is attempting to locate assets of a deceased friend. The deceased was quite elderly. The last years he was in an assisted living facility. The PR was providing some assistance in paying bills of the deceased prior to his death, however, the PR did not have much knowledge of the finances but for the deceased checking account. She now is seeking out assets. She has used the usual methods, checking mail, etc. She believes that there are a number of accounts and assets that she cannot now find. 

Does someone have a recommendation for the next steps to follow to locate assets? 

Maybe a private investigator? If a PI, recommendations would be appreciated.
