Since the creditor you represent has been appointed the executor of the estate, the executor/creditor has the power to demand all papers of the decedent including bank account records, records concerning insurance policies, brokerage accounts, records concerning ownership of real property, etc. See RCW 11.48.010 et seq. If the girlfriend does not cooperate, I would notice a hearing, serve the girlfriend and have the Commissioner issue an order that she provide all information to you.  You can also have all mail addressed to the decedent forwarded to the creditor/executor by taking the Letters Testamentary to the Post Office which processes his mail and filling out a change of address form.

I opened probate on behalf of a creditor.  Decedent owned 60% of RE, 40% owned by decedent’s girlfriend.  Girlfriend had filed bankruptcy.  Since creditor I opened probate for is getting paid by bankruptcy court because creditor’s judgment was against girlfriend & decedent, they are happy.  Girlfriend (through bankruptcy) will end up paying the judgment. 

Problem is I have written to girlfriend and one daughter of decedent asking about assets/creditors.  Tried to call.  No response.  Filed/published Notice to Creditors and have received 2 creditor’s claims.  Accepted as valid.  Is there a company or way to find out about other assets of decedent – bank accounts, vehicles, IRA accounts?  I have written to IRS, DSHS & Dept of Revenue as required by law.  Decedent probably didn’t have a lot when he died, but what else can I do to get estate assets?
