[WSBAPT] expiring Letters? (Pierce County)

Yeah, but aren't "fresh letters" or "current letters" technically just
Clerk certified copies of the originally-issued Letters? So the "current"
date is really the date of the cert copy--kind of a confirmation that the
original Letters are still good, haven't been revoked...and I guess,
haven't expired.

Sincerely,

Eric

The Recorder’s offices also require current Letters and will kick back
your Deed, etc., if you submit your paperwork with expired letters.
Please don’t ask me how I know this.

Eric,

I routinely see brokerage houses request “fresh letters” because the prior
letters are over 90 days old. Just protecting their proverbial back
sides……….

But, I don’t see expiration dates in the counties where I handle probates.

Has anyone ever seen Letters issued that had an expiration date?

Pierce County Local Special Proceeding Rule 98.04(g) says, if a PR changes
her/his name, the PR needs to get an order and file an oath under the new
name in order to get new Letters. Then it says, "The expiration date of
the letters shall remain the same unless changed by the new order."

Huh? I have seen Guardianship letters that expire 90 days after deadline
for an annual report, but never letters in an estate. Can someone fill me
in on what I'm missing?

Sincerely,

Eric C. Nelsen
