Hi Paul:

Welcome – being human is not so bad.  If you do not have the same  (original) deed, you can use a certified copy of the deed to re-record.  Making the correction on the deed itself and then including a coversheet that reiterates the correct information, here your legal, and why “rerecord to correct legal description” never hurts.

I usually re-record the same deed and cross out the old description and add the new description.  I then type on the face of the deed near the top something to the effect of “Re-Recorded to Correct Legal Description”

Well, my humanness rose to the top today when I learned I make a mistake on the property description of a recently recorded deed.  To make the correction, is there anything I need to be aware of or simply record a new deed in its place and reference the first mistaken recording number?

Any guidance is great so I don't create a mistake of the mistake!
