back in the day, they had wine, women and song
it was messed up, but some folks got along
and though they loved to feel the music throb
they suffered less without a volume knob

despite a lo-fi sound, they still got down
in blues and jazz they gave us sacred ground
when lights got low, they always knew what to do
they'd dance a jig and drain a glass and screw

history has moved the posts of the goal
in my day we had sex, drugs and rock-n-roll
but I don't get this generation's soul
it's all about 'whatever', 'yolo' and 'lol'

somewhere along the way I lost my scene
I'm driving kids around, you know what I mean?
bombarded by their rude unruly screams:
turn it up! and play that song again!

can't stand this non-consensual rock-n-roll!
ok, I like Bob Seger and Dave Grohl
want quarters for them? I'll give you the whole roll
that ain't no non-consensual rock-n-roll

stop blasting non-consensual rock-n-roll!
