SCOTUS justice Alito in his draft decision on Roe v. Wade makes claims that
abortion has a history of being criminalized in the US:

>From website above: "Alito's historical analysis points toward most states
criminalizing abortion throughout the 19th century and earlier. As such,
access to abortion cannot be "deeply rooted" in the nation's history and is
not a protected right."
------------------------
Some argue that the social/economic/political forces that pushed for
criminalization of abortion in the 19th century were motivated by male
dominated medical "professionals" who were in competition with midwives,
who were often involved in care for women in their reproductive life.
Also, reproductive rates for "white" women versus other groups, were
perhaps a motivation to criminalize abortion:

>From website above:
"The first time abortion was criminalized in the United States was in the
mid-nineteenth century. Nicola Beisel and Tamara Kay write that a key
factor in the anti-abortion arguments of that time was that too many
native-born white women were ending their pregnancies
<https://www.jstor.org/stable/3593062?mag=the-history-of-outlawing-abortion-in-america>,
opening the door for the country to be overrun by fertile foreigners."
-------------------------
"The doctors succeeded in helping to pass a series of state anti-abortion
laws in the 1850s and 1860s, and continued to crusade against illegal
abortion (as well as birth control) through the end of the century. And
yet, women clearly took increasing control over pregnancy and childbirth.
The total fertility rates for whites—including both native-born Protestants
and immigrants—ended up dropping from seven children in 1800 to 3.6 in
1900."
------------------------
But in the final analysis, what is really happening? The Taliban,
Christian Evangelicals, Hindus, Buddhists, etc. and of course let's not
forget the "secular" religion of dogmatic barbaric Communism, all perhaps
manifesting the same evolutionary/brain structure causation for the
widespread hold of irrational authoritarian "superstitious" ideology over
human societies, despite the many followers of these ideologies who insist
they only want to do "good" for society?

>From website above:
"In the course of his work, the evolutionary theorist Richard Dawkins has
long asserted that belief in God is both irrational and profoundly harmful
to society. In his latest book, published by Bantam Press, he tackles the
subject head on, exposing both religion's faulty logic and the widespread
suffering it causes."
