I think just given that's kind of a comfort that he's had throughout his whole life and not being able to see anything, at least he can feel his presence, and that is very comforting to him." Welcome to Caturday.

Blind dog, seeing-eye cat will soon be up for adoption at central Alberta animal shelter
Two special furry friends will soon be in need of a loving home after being surrendered to a central Alberta animal shelter.
Spike, an eight-year-old blind dog and Max, his “seeing-eye cat” were taken in by the Saving Grace Animal Society in Alix on Monday after a member of the community reached out, said Amanda McClughan, development director with the shelter.
“We basically sent a team out and when they pulled up to the house, Max and Spike were in a little dog igloo outside curled up together,” McClughan said. “We ended up talking with the owners and they agreed that it would be best for us to take them in, get them the vet care that they needed, and then find them a home more suitable to having a blind dog.”
She said Spike has been at the vet to get both his eyes removed because they were causing him pain. Max, meanwhile, has been getting some love at the cat room in the shelter. But when the pair did spend time together, McClughan said they could tell Spike would search out Max.
“I think just given that’s kind of a comfort that he’s had throughout his whole life and not being able to see anything, at least he can feel his presence, and that is very comforting to him,” she said.
The duo will be up for adoption in about two weeks time, depending on how Spike heals. There will be a $375 senior adoption fee for Spike, while Max “rides for free.”
McClughan said they will be looking for a home that is able to care for a blind dog, as well as take on a cat, knowing that senior animals might need more vet care.
“It’s a little bit of a big ask to find a home for a senior blind dog and feline companion,” she said. “But they’re very sweet, so we don’t doubt that we will be able to find them a great home.”
