Clem hasn't had it easy, but despite his own challenges, he's actually been a help to others. He's made a big impact on his new family and he's even helping other animals at a local shelter with a chance to win them $25,000. Welcome to Caturday.

Two-Legged Iowa Cat Named Clem Could Win $25,000 For Local Shelter
Clem the cat hasn't had it easy, but despite his own challenges, he's actually been a help to others. He's made a big impact on his new family and he's even helping other animals at a local shelter with a chance to win them $25,000.

Clem is a two-legged tabby cat who is one of the finalists in Petco's Love Stories People's Choice contest. The contest, in its eighth year, allows adopters to share their stories of how their pets changed their lives for the chance at grant money for animal welfare organizations. Clem's family entered their story and now have a shot at the $25,000.

When Ryan and Lindsey Anderson saw Clem up for adoption from Warren County's Whiskers TNR, they knew he had to be a part of their family. Whisker's TNR is an animal rescue that traps and neuters feral cats to help prevent overpopulation, and sometimes puts cats up for adoption. According to the article on Petcolove.org, Clem had his "right front limb, the back left limb at the ankle, most of his tail, one toe on the remaining front foot, and two toes on the remaining back foot" amputated due to frostbite.

KCCI reports that the Andersons adopted Clem when they were expecting their first child but unfortunately miscarried. Lindsay relied on Clem a lot during that hard time, and he helped her get through it. The Andersons didn't know how Clem would do in the long-term after his surgeries but were amazed to see his resilience and determination. They now have the mindset of “If Clem can get through it, so can we.”

The Anderson's story warmed people's hearts so much that now they have a shot at $25,000. If they win the money it will go to Whiskers TNR, who plan to put the winnings toward building a new facility. You can help make that a reality for them by voting for Clem and the Andersons here. You have through Dec. 15.
