Woman dies after being pulled from house fire in Moscow, Idaho

Firefighters responded Tuesday to a fire in Moscow, Idaho, and discovered a woman inside who was unresponsive. The woman later died at Gritman Medical Center.

The fire, which was reported at 9:48 a.m. in the 1000 block of Camas Street in Moscow, remains under investigation by the Moscow police and fire departments.

“The fire originated in the kitchen area. And she was found in the living room,” Moscow Fire Chief Brian Nickerson said. “The fire is not suspicious in nature, but we are still investigating.”

The victim appeared to be suffering from smoke inhalation. She was transported to the hospital, where she later died.

Authorities have identified the woman, who was in her 60s, but Nickerson said they would not publicly identify the victim until Wednesday.

The Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office is also assisting in the investigation, Nickerson said.
