Letter: Reach out peacefully
The members of the Latah County Human Rights Task Force, and I as its chair, stand with our many friends and supporters and with the thousands locally and nationally who are speaking out against President Donald Trump's unconstitutional Muslim immigration ban. Such a ban will result in racial and religious profiling, fearmongering and spreading of hate and division.
We continue to advocate and work for inclusion, strong public schools, access to affordable health care, freedom of speech, religion and the press, and protection of our environment.
In the dark chaos of the last few weeks, we are heartened by the courage, compassion and unity of the many wonderful people who have shown that they will stand up to protect our most important American values. More and more are coming to understand the challenges we face.
Let us continue to be determined to reach out peacefully to spread the word that respect for the human and civil rights of all people will keep our country strong, safe and moral.
