Ah the Varsity Café. Helen, the ever patient waitress, wore a headpiece proclaiming that she belonged to server's union #(unknown).
I drank coffee and wrote much poetry there as log trucks rumbled past on snowy Main street. I am indebted to Helen for keeping my cup full, and sharing her cheery smile with all the young patrons who were not always so civilized. Anyone remember her?

Given the claim by Trump that global warming is a Chinese hoax, might the
depiction of "melt down" below also be a conspiracy by the Chinese? Oh, of
course, it's the media
conspiracy to dump Trump and promote H. Clinton...
I give up... The conspiracies are so numerous and convoluted it would take
the Singularity AI to sort it out.

My most recent acquisition, and an awesome one it is, was donated to me by a good friend of Moscow, a friend who, just a few years ago, moved to Georgia to be with family. This photo was taken by him after he and his spouse moved to Moscow (the one in Idaho) from Pullman upon completion of his education at Washington State College (now "Washington State University").

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)?Donald J. Trump?s suggestion that both Presidential candidates submit to a drug test has sparked fears that such a test would reveal that he is not on drugs.
In interviews conducted across the country, voters said that they would be ?alarmed? and ?distressed? to learn that the billionaire?s statements and actions were the product of a mind unaltered in any way by a controlled substance.
?It never occurred to me that Donald Trump might not be on drugs,? Carol Foyler, an accountant from Toledo, Ohio, said. ?That would be terrifying.?
Harland Dorrinson, a mechanic from St. Petersburg, Florida, said that the chilling possibility of Trump not being on drugs was a strong argument against submitting the candidates to drug testing. ?If it turns out that he isn?t on anything, this is something that the American people shouldn?t have to find out,? he said. ?We?ve suffered enough this election.?
Concerns that Trump might not be on drugs led the nominee?s running mate, Governor Mike Pence, of Indiana, to allay voters? anxieties in an appearance on Fox News. ?All Donald Trump said was that there should be drug tests,? Pence said. ?He never explicitly said that he was not on drugs. The media has really run away with this story.?

You may be disappointed to learn that the Singularity AI is otherwise
occupied calculating the optimal order for war losers to be sent
voluntarily to the elimination apparatus since the destruction of the
the computer controlling similar functions on the planet Eminiar VII in
the original Star Trek episode "A Taste of Armageddon" suggests a
replacement capability is needed in these contemporary times.
The modern prevalence of hashtag this and hashtag that floating about in
the TwitFace ether is providing abundant data from which an
up-to-the-moment ordering can be continuously calculated so there will
not be any doubt about the standing-in-line position of those who will
be processed.
Unfortunately, I am not aware whether that AI has yet learned the lesson
from Joshua, the computer in the movie War Games, that concluded that
the nuclear war game is a strange game, and that the only winning move
is not to play.
Even worse is the realization that humans have been concluding among
various subsets of themselves an average of one nuclear materials
agreement per week since the beginning of the atomic age. Obviously, we
have not yet learned Joshua's lesson.
