UI offers Idaho Fan Zone again
MOSCOW -- The University of Idaho invites fans to celebrate the Vandal spirit at the Idaho Fan Zone before the Thursday, Sept. 1, home football game against Montana State University.

Located on UI’s SprinTurf east of the ASUI-Kibbie Activities Center, the Fan Zone features an open air, carnival-like atmosphere with live music, food vendors and children’s activities. The Fan Zone is free and open to the public; visitors do not need to have game tickets.

The Idaho Fan Zone began during last year’s football season to offer a family-friendly area for Idaho fans to hang out pregame. This year, the Fan Zone will open three hours before kickoff on Sept. 1, for the Homecoming game against Troy on Oct. 1, and for the Oct. 15 game against New Mexico State University.

“We are excited to bring the Fan Zone back this year,” said Dan Ewart, vice president for infrastructure. “With expanded food options, great entertainment by local artists and plenty of activities for kids, this year’s Fan Zone is a welcome environment for Vandals of all ages.”

The Sept. 1 Fan Zone opens at 3 p.m., with music by the Senders on the main stage at 4:30 p.m. The UI marching band will perform at 5:30 p.m., and the zone closes as the game begins at 6 p.m. A variety of children’s activities, including a competition and “fitness combine” will be held throughout the afternoon.
