Palouse Plein Air 2015 – Winners


September 29, 2015 (Moscow, Idaho) – The City of Moscow is pleased to announce the winners of Palouse Plein Air 2015.



First Place: Jan Vogtman for her work titled “South View”



Second Place: Ivy Breen for her work titled “Sentry”



Third Place: Barney Saneholtz for his work titled “Tammach Road Truck”



Best Palouse: Michael Session for his work titled “Rich”



Best Downtown: Bobbi Kelly for her work titled “Moscow AleHouse”



Best Historical: Sharon Macy for her work titled “1912 Moscow High School”



Honorable Mention: Michael Session for his work titled “Sand Road Barn”





The City of Moscow Arts Department and Moscow Arts Commission hosted Palouse Plein Air 2015 at the Prichard Art Gallery on September 25-26, 2015. The Reception and Awards Ceremony was Friday, September 25 at the Prichard Art Gallery in the Children’s Education Studio. The One Day Sale was September 26, 2015.

For seven days, artists from our area and beyond were hard at work painting in a variety of locations.


What is Plein Air?  French for “in the open air” used to describe the act of painting outdoors. Plein Air competitions are all about painting outdoors in a specific area or region and then having those paintings exhibited in an art gallery.

Palouse Plein Air 2015 was hosted by the City of Moscow, the Moscow Arts Commission, and the Prichard Art Gallery. The event was sponsored by Gritman Medical Center.
