I don't have the time to properly summarize a crisp response, so I'll just add my comments <inline> below...

His View: Christ Church won't mess up Co-opBy Bill TozerFull disclosure here. I have lived in Moscow for close to 33 years, starting way back when, if I recall correctly, one could pick up Communist propaganda at the Co-op's checkout line. I have never been to a service at Christ Church.
I recognize Doug Wilson by sight but he likely does not know me from a hole in the wall, although he always gives me a friendly nod when our eyes meet. I know, but am not particularly close to, a handful of people who attend Christ Church.I am continually amazed at the fear the words "Doug Wilson" and "Christ Church" seem to generate in the hearts of those who boast of their tolerance and inclusivity until a conservative or a Christian shows up in their midst. Thus the current panic about Christ Church members on Co-op's board. The Co-op members' and the Daily News editorial board's responses appear to be outright religious discrimination and probably flirt with libel.
It is as though someone is saying, "We don't like your spiritual views here so be aware that we are going to keep a close eye on all you say and do while a member of this board."<sd: Doug Wilson preaches discriminatory views backed by his discriminatory actions. I'd think it wise that an appropriate watch be placed on the MFC board's actions to ensure that no discriminatory policy changes are enacted. There's nothing insidious about healthy checks and balances to ensure a level playing field be extended to all MFC customers.>
Or that they could be saying, "If you try to replace our religion, which approves of sexual relations with any willing partner, with your religion, you will be in a heap of trouble."<sd: Mischaracterization. If the MFC board members try to enact discriminatory policies in place of where none currently exist, they will likely be removed from the MFC board.>

On top of that, Lee Rozen sees fit to take a couple of gratuitous swipes at Christ Church's members on the board, first by commenting to the effect that so far having few Co-op members voting for board members has worked, but this year it didn't, and second, the editorial board is not sure it wants the likes of people who run New Saint Andrews, Logos, Bucer's, Nuart and Anselm House running the Co-op.<sd: Great observation and why stoop to the low level of Doug Wilson who is the king of gratuitous swipes? Geez, I hope that last sentence isn't considered a gratuitous swipe lest the rest of my comments be invalidated.>

For starters, I would suggest that if every family in Moscow were exposed to the teachings I believe are found at Christ Church, every K-12 child in Moscow received the same quality education and moral direction received at Logos, every college student in Moscow were held to the academic, reasoning and moral standards of New Saint Andrews and hung out in places like Bucer's and Nuart, domestic violence and car prowls in this town would plummet, school achievement test scores would soar, drug pushers would have a much more difficult time peddling their poison, teen pregnancies and sexting would diminish dramatically, drunken brawls in fraternities and barrooms would quickly become a thing of the past, and we could cut the size of the police department by three quarters.<sd: And women, gays, and minorities would be marginalized and controlled just like they were in the last Great Christian Nation that Doug Wilson longs for reviving'.>

Scary thoughts, I'll tell you. Those Christ Church folks could really upset our apple carts.I normally consider Rebecca Rod and people with her perspectives rational and sane people until they utterly cannot see that warning Christ Church members not to bring their "personal views" into Co-op's business dealings is precisely what they are doing by issuing that warning.<sd: So Rebecca Rod and her ilk can't see that their intolerance is "precisely" the same as the intolerance that Doug Wilson preaches and practices??? IT'S BECAUSE IT'S NOT! Rebecca Rod and company do not vocally state to in effect 'stand firm to your beliefs and refuse to sell products to Christ Churchers even though you'll be breaking the law and subject to fines'. Neither are they ballyhooing that they are personally meeting, congratulating, high fiving, backslapping, and atta boying business owners who have actually refused to sell their products to Christ Churchers. There's a huge difference between a group of people who says 'treat everyone equally' versus Doug Wilson who preaches 'not everyone deserves equal treatment'. But here's the caveat, when Doug Wilson and his flock believe that they are getting short shrift, they sure change their tune quickly and bellyache like others who feel slighted and only want equal treatment. That's "precisely" what they're doing now. So why is that we all can't agree that everyone deserves equal treatment and the gay couples (whether married or not) deserve equal treatment as any others customers including singles, couples, and Christ Churchers? Oh, I momentarily forgot the answer...it's because Doug Wilson won't agree to it and commands his followers not to agree to it either. Therein lies the problem.>

The Co-op is a quality institution delivering a quality and welcome service to Moscow. I doubt Christ Church board members will mess it up.<sd: I doubt they'll mess it up either because proper counter balances won't permit them from messing it up. So it's good thing that it issue is still getting its much needed exposure.>
