Dear Visionaries,
One good way to remember the wonderful people whose lives were snuffed out so tragically last Saturday is to remember the message of hope and peace so movingly delivered by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose life was also so arbitrarily wasted by an assassin’s bullet.
Join the Latah County Human Rights Task Force this Saturday, January 17, 2015, for our annual breakfast at 9 AM at the Moscow Junior High School Cafeteria and multipurpose room. Michael Chin, who has injured in this shooting spree, has always been a supporter of this event and showed, even as a Moscow High School student and a WSU student, his commitment and passion for human rights and social justice. Being together is important at times like these. In the past, this is one such event that brought people together to work for a positive future and a stronger, more beloved community. Surely, now is such a time when this is needed most!
Next week, on January 22, 2015, at 7:30 P.M. in the CUB Senior Ballroom on the WSU campus, the Annual WSU MLK Celebration will feature Angela Davis, 1960s radical and important civil rights activist and scholar, in addition to presenting the Martin Luther King, Jr. Distinguished Service Awards to local individuals and groups that have demonstrated , in the words of the committee, “altruism, community service, efforts to advance diversity and educational commitment to inclusion.”
I hope to see you Saturday and next Thursday,
Linda Pall
