Mayor Bill Lambert Hosts Golf Tournament to Benefit Alternatives to Violence on the Palouse

August 5, 2015 (Moscow, Idaho) - Mayor Bill Lambert on behalf of the City of Moscow, is excited to host the Inaugural Mayor's Golf Tournament to benefit Alternatives to Violence on the Palouse (ATVP) at the University of Idaho Golf Course on August 14, 2015.  Registration is now open and can be completed on line at www.ci.moscow.id.us<http://www.ci.moscow.id.us>.

The event is designed to create fun and friendly competition to benefit an agency that serves the entire region.  The tournament format is four person scramble and there are prizes for best team score, closest to the pin, longest drive, and the longest putt.  In addition, Mayor Lambert will present the prestigious "Mayor's Trophy" traveling trophy which will be awarded to the lowest scoring team with an elected official on it.  At the end of the tournament the City of Moscow will host an awards ceremony and BBQ.  Thanks to local sponsors, Gritman Medical Center and Jess Ford, two hole-in-one prize opportunities are up for grabs - a $6,000 travel voucher and a New Ford Fusion valued at $25,000.

The proceeds of this fun and exciting event will benefit ATVP which serves the citizens of Latah County, ID and Whitman County, WA in the following ways, by providing, "Emergency domestic violence shelter to victims of domestic violence and their dependent children.  In addition to shelter, other services provided were advocacy, legal assistance, peer support groups, sexual assault and abuse specialized therapy, assistance with protection orders and other legal issues, specialized family and child advocacy, emergency transportation, food and clothing."

Mayor Lambert notes, "I hope the community will join me in kicking off this inaugural event supporting a worthwhile cause."
