Suppose Colorado sales of pot continues yielding $2.1 million for schools
each month ($25.2 million for the year). That amounts to 0.63% of state
support for schools (out of $3.95 billion). Sin taxes and things like
state lotteries are sold on the basis of supporting schools when in
reality they rarely amount to more than a rounding error and an excuse to
reduce general tax support.
