[Vision2020] Speakin' of faux machismo . . .

When I was in the Army, stationed at the Presidio of San Francisco ('77-'79), SGT Tom Gilg (a long-time friend) and I used to play pranks at some of our favorite hangouts (mostly the Cliffhouse or the Moonshiner).

We would do things on a Friday/Saturday evening (when the place is almost always packed) like . . .

As we entered the tavern, jus' loud enough so that people close-by could hear . . .

Me: Mine's bigger than yours.

He:  Nah! Mine is bigger than yours.

Me:  OK, Tom.  I'll bet you ten dollars that mine is at least an inch and a half longer than yours.

He:  You're on!

(at this point we would slowly and deliberately remove and measure our . . . belts)

Me or He:  See, I told you so.
