9. Special Event Sidewalk Cafe Extension Trial - Jen Pfiffner

The City of Moscow, in partnership with the Moscow Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a downtown block party to welcome new and returning students back to the community on September 26, 2014. The event is designed to introduce the Moscow community and local businesses to students and to provide an opportunity to celebrate our community as a whole. For the event Main Street from ‘A’ Street to 6th Street will be closed with the Third Street crossing remaining open. The City and Chamber would like to provide a festive and enticing atmosphere for the September 26 event, as well as provide an incentive for businesses to participate. To do so, it is proposed that the restrictions relating to Sidewalk Cafés be adjusted for this event and as a pilot for potential future downtown events. The proposed adjustment to the restrictions would include allowing establishments to abut a neighboring businesses property lines rather than their own property lines, thereby expanding the available area for a Sidewalk Café presence for an establishment. All other restrictions would still apply. The establishment would be required to file an amended Sidewalk Café Licensed Area diagram to the City Clerk with written permission from the neighboring business allowing the extension of the area in front of the neighboring business. For those establishments permitted to serve alcohol, they would need to apply for a catering permit with the City of Moscow in accordance with State liquor regulations. It is proposed that fees for these adjustments for this event be waived.

What we have here is the Moscow tax payer footing the bill for Mayor Lambert's "If Moscow loved me as much as I love myself" party.

Three vendors that I imagine will present a major appearance are West of Paris, Bucers, and NuArt . . . maybe even NSA . . . all at Moscow tax-payer expense.

I wonder if I can get the city of Moscow to pay for next June's Intolerista Wingding . . . probably not, huh?
