Palouse Plein Air 2014

August 25, 2014 (Moscow, Idaho) - Calling all painters! The City of Moscow and the Moscow Arts Commission invite you to participate in the fifth annual Palouse Plein Air 2014.

What is Plien Air?
French for "in the open air" used to describe the act of painting outdoors. Plein air competitions are all about painting outdoors in a specific area or region and then having those paintings exhibited in an art gallery.

The 8 day painting competition begins September 10, 2014 and runs through September 19, 2014!

The competition is open to artists 18 years or older. All painting mediums are welcome!

The $20 entrance fee per participant includes: registration in the competition, an invitation to the Artist Reception and Awards Ceremony on September 19, and an invitation to the Quick Draw at the Moscow Farmers Market.

On September 19, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., participants are to deliver a maximum of 3 finished entries framed and ready to hang to the Third Street Gallery. The Gallery is located in Moscow City Hall (206 East Third). The judging will take place from 12:000 - 4:30 p.m.

The Palouse Plein Air 2014 Juror is Dana Aldis.

Dana Aldis lives in Lewiston, Idaho. She works predominantly in the medium of painting (oils) but she also includes drawing and bookarts in her art repertoire. Dana completed an MFA cum laude at the New York Academy of Art Graduate School of Figurative Art and a BFA with honors from the Corcoran College of Art & Design in Washington, DC. Her work is in many private collections and she has exhibited nationally and internationally.

Dana is the First Prize winner of the 2011 Palouse Plein Air and was awarded Honorable Mention at the 2012 Palouse Plein Air. Dana is a member of the Palouse Women Artists, The Valley Art Center (Clarkston) and The Creative Shop Artist Co-Op (Lewiston).
