Upon examination of the Violence Against Women Act . . .

I did discover one reason why Rep. Labrador may have voted against it.

Prior to yesterday, a non-tribal member (say . . . a white guy from St. Marie's) could enter tribal land (say . . . the Coeur d'Alene reservation) and physically abuse a female tribal member without fear of arrest by the tribal police.

The act gave tribal police jurisdiction over non-tribal members that commit a crime on the reservation.

Isn't America GREAT!
