[Vision2020] Are you REALLY a libertarian?

The government is already limited to the US Constitution. The Libertarian Party is for
the elimination of public roads, social security, public schools, regulations
on the environment and natural resources, and private commerce. The nation has
benefited greatly through these programs even though they cost a great deal and
expand the role and power of the federal government. This thinking implies that
virtually ALL US Government is bad. This is not the case. The people, as a whole,
should be able to establish publically funded programs, such as educational,
health care, and social security programs if they wish too through their government.
Doing everything through volunteers and for-profit organizations is not always
the best and most effective way of doing things. A volunteer army, volunteers
or corporations to educate all children, provide health care, build our roads,
just wouldn't work. Not to mention advertisers would be unregulated completely
and consumers would not be protected from fraudulent bankers and investors. There
is reason why people support these programs and regulations.

In what way does Libertarianism "strip the people of the right to determine their own form of government and the society they wish to live in"?  You still vote the same way, the rules of Congress are the same, etc.  Libertarians are for reducing the size of government back to what is specified in the Constitution, leaving the rest to the states or the individual.  Is that what you are referring to?

My objection to Libertarianism is that it strips the people of
the right to determine their own form of government and the society they wish to
live in.  It removes using the government
as a means to solve a problem when it may at times be the best or least costly solution.

My opposition to libertarianism stems from my adherence to social contract theory. We agree to uphold the laws of a particular society in exchange for security. And vice versa: no security, no adherence to the law.

Social programs are justified from a purely pragmatic point of view. Thus, libertarianism is false.

I agree with this.  Let's keep the brand name clean, so it doesn't get taken over like the original Tea Party did.
