I'm sure we all got a copy of Gresham Bouma's flier depicting a 1930s-era line of men waiting for a bit of bread and soup, with a heading proclaiming some 236,000-odd Idahoans on food stamps. I remember seeing a similar picture in the Russian-language Bolshaya Sovietskaya Entsiklopedia (Great Soviet Encyclopedia, 1950-58) in the article: Amerika.
