As the Mertensia genus is the topic of the next chapter meeting (March 22)
I am sending the link to the Botany Photo of the Day which discusses
Effects of Nutrient Changes on Plant Communities. Research at UBC and other
collaborating institutions on plants in Western America and Asia (Mertensia
is one of the species mentioned) studies whether the application of
nutrients to northern communities simulates some of the same effects in the
plant community that might be produced by global environmental change.
