[Vision2020] [More] Farmers' Market (July 7, 2012)

I am just curious, how does the City Council propose someone that can hardly walk, or not at all, suppose to drive up to a business and go to their appointment or do their shopping when ALL the streets are 100% blocked off by the city government?

Equal access for all is suppose to be just that. Every business in Moscow should be accessible to EVERYONE, not just those that can walk several blocks.

This is discrimination against several groups of people.

Do you realize, you are making an 8-month pregnant woman walk several blocks with her other children to pick out a maternity outfit? Do you realize you are making a 90 year old woman with a walker and can barely walk go three blocks for an eye appointment? Do you realize a care provider cannot drop off and pick up someone that wants to shop at a downtown business when they cannot drive to the front door, or have someone drive them to front door? For some, no front door access means NO access at all. There is a reason the blue ADA parking spaces are next to the front door of businesses and NOT three blocks away around a corner and across the street.

The government is suppose solve problems for people, not create them. It is suppose to protect the rights and equal access of the community's most vulnerable and disadvantaged, not trample them because it is the seemly POPULAR thing to do.
