Save OUR Food Coop

The Moscow Food Co-op Board of Directors supported censorship of the
Co-op’s newsletter, when five letters to the editor from Co-op
members were deleted from the January 2012 issue. That censorship
resulted in editor Bill London resigning in protest.

The Moscow Food Co-op Board of Directors has made significant
decisions in isolation, without allowing member input, in clear
violation of the Co-op mission. For example, in December of 2011,
the board ruled, with no previous announcement or opportunity for
member involvement, that members who had been Co-op employees or even
job applicants in the last 2 years were NOT eligible to be board
candidates. Well-prepared candidates, including former Co-op board
president Bill Beck and local farmer and former board member Margo
Kay (who had both applied for Co-op jobs within the last two years)
were not allowed to run for election.
