Unlawful Weapon Discharge at Dwelling House

February 6, 2012 (Moscow, Idaho) - On Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 11:36 p.m. officers responded to 1305 Blake Avenue, the University of Idaho Targhee Fine Arts Hall, a residential living and learning community, to investigate reports of a weapon offense.

According to information provided by the residents of the hall, at 11:35 p.m. a gunshot was heard outside and dust was observed next to the east facing window of the common area of the building.

Officers observed a single bullet hole in the east window.  After the round entered the window it passed through the window curtains, struck a lighting fixture on the ceiling, and ricocheted down into a cinderblock wall.  A .45 caliber shell casing was located in the roadway east of the building on Blake Avenue.

A witness described a white sports utility vehicle, similar to a Ford Bronco, leaving north on Blake Avenue occupied by two white males at the time of the gunshot.  No injuries occurred to those inside the building.  Anyone with information on this weapon offense is asked to contact the Moscow Police Department at 208-882-COPS or the tip line at 208-892-3898.
