[Vision2020] UI & Express Scripts Prescription Drug Coverage

Visionaries:

I'm wondering if any of you employed by the UI & with the "standard PPO"
family health coverage have run into . . . issues with Express Scripts?

All the documents distributed to active employees indicate there's a
"family" drug deductible of $250 before the co-pays kick in. And, this
isn't anything new for this year - it's been like that for at least 2-3
years, IIRC & per the UI documents, and I know this is at least the second
year with Express Scripts.

[For those interested, you can see one such document by going to:

Then, click on the hyperlink at the top of the page "View the Medical
At-A-Glance Chart

The document will open as a Word document.]

Express Scripts, OTOH, is insisting that there's a $125 per person drug
deductible. The person I spoke with suggested that I needed to contact my
benefits person to be "educated" about what the benefit really is. That's
OK - if I've misunderstood our benefits for 1+ years, I definitely need to
be educated J

One might think it would be an easy enough task to get this straightened
out. I called the UI benefits number listed on the UI Benefits Web site
(http://www.uidaho.edu/benefits). I got a live person, who took my name &
number and told me I'd get a call back within a few minutes. Wonderful!

A few minutes became more than a couple of hours, and then the return call I
received wasn't from anyone with UI benefits but rather from Morneau Sobeco.
Ummm . . . well, OK - since she had the details of my question (which were
accurately relayed by the nice guy I spoke with at the UI - kudos!), I
assumed the call was legit. She confirmed that my understanding was correct
- that we do, in fact, have a $250 family deductible rather and
$125/individual deductible - and she placed a conference call to Express
Scripts.

The outcome? Nothing yet - the Morneau Sobeco rep is going to have the take
a few days to research the issue. <sigh>

A few days may not seem like much, except it's going to cost us because our
daughter needs a prescription. Now.

I guess I'm a bit . . . puzzled that this hasn't been addressed in the (at
least) 13 months that Express Scripts has been administering the
prescription drug part of benefits and I'm wondering if anyone else has had
issues?

Please feel free to respond to me directly if you don't want to post
publicly - as always, I strictly honor the confidentiality of those who
respond privately.
