Perhaps not 'Little Johnny' unless he were highly trained and of well above maturity of his peers. But how about working very closely with law enforcement to come up with some reasonable way of arming some of the teachers and administrators so they can act as early responders to try and minimize the carnage if possible?

By all means, Mr. Rumelhart. Let's make sure that little Johnny is armed with a handgun as he heads off to his classes at Moscow High School. That will certainly prevent the likes of the Columbine shootings from ever happening again . . . as school recesses assume an eerie semblance to shootout at the OK Corral.
