PRESS RELEASE
Bicyclist and Pedestrian Count Event Scheduled
October 3, 2011 (Moscow, Idaho) - The City of Moscow Active Living Task Force has coordinated the first ever iCount event, a National Bicycle and Pedestrian Project count of traveling bicyclist and pedestrians in the city of Moscow on October 13 from 7 - 9 a.m. and 4 - 6 p.m. and October 15 from 10 - 12 p.m.
The Active Living Task Force is seeking volunteers to assist with iCount on October 13 and 15 at one of more than 20 locations throughout Moscow. A webpage has been dedicated to this project to provide additional information and allow interested volunteers to register at www.ci.moscow.id.us/projects/active_living.aspx<http://www.ci.moscow.id.us/projects/active_living.aspx>.
iCount is one part of the Active Living Task Force's effort designed to collect travel data for bicyclists and pedestrians in Moscow to provide information for the City of Moscow's upcoming Transportation Plan and to provide a resource for additional community engagement on the topic of complete streets. The Active Living Task Force is a group that came together as a result of a Center for Disease Control and the Department of Health and Welfare grant administrated by Idaho Smart Growth designed to encourage and promote complete streets philosophies and policies for multi-modal transportation and active living.
If you are interested in joining the iCount event or if you have any questions, please call Jen Pfiffner at 208.883.7123 or email your questions or comments to icount at ci.moscow.id.us<mailto:icount at ci.moscow.id.us>.
