Free Concert Celebrates Moscow’s Progressive Community
Celebrating the values and vitality of Moscow’s progressive community, Moscow Cares is sponsoring the Intolerista Wingding, a free evening of political satire and music on Tuesday, June 21, at 6pm at the 1912 Center in Moscow, announced Moscow Cares spokesperson Tom Hansen.
At the concert, snacks, beer and wine will be available for sale by the Red Door restaurant. Donations of canned food for Sojourner’s Alliance will be encouraged, but not required. Admission is free.
The star of the show will be Roy Zimmerman of California (www.royzimmerman.com). He's been writing satirical songs for twenty years and travels around the US playing his original music and building a national reputation for singing funny songs about ignorance, war, and greed.
The Los Angeles Times says, "Zimmerman displays a lacerating wit and keen awareness of society's foibles that bring to mind a latter-day Tom Lehrer."
Tom Lehrer himself says, "I congratulate Roy Zimmerman on reintroducing literacy to comedy songs.”
Joni Mitchell says, "Roy's lyrics move beyond poetry and achieve perfection."
Opening for Zimmerman will be Moscow pianist and songwriter, Jeanne McHale, backed by the Threat Level Purple Singers.
