Greetings Visionaires -

The "Moscow Cares" website has been updated to include videos and
committee reports from the January 18, 2011 session of the Moscow City
Council concering:

----------------------------------------

Let's Move! Cities & Towns

As requested by City Council, City staff has done further research
regarding the requirements of the Let’s Move initiative. Initially, there
was some information from the Health Partnership organization that
included significant action required of the City that could have had
significant financial impact. Upon further review, it appears that Let's
Move would like to hear about and promote those activities that fall
within the "four pillars" of the program on an annual basis, but no
requirements for specific action is required in order to participate in
the program.

Passed (3-2, 1 absent)*

------------

* - That's right, V-peeps. This item, with absolutely no required action
by the city whatso-danged-ever, passed by a narrow margin, with 2 council
members voting against it. This was pretty much just a "feel good" item
that originated under the tutelage of Michelle Obama in an attempt to
reduce (hopefully eliminate) teenage obesity, without ANY requirements
being placed on city management.

Yet, two of Moscow's elected officials voted against it. Guess who?
Not only that, but wait until you hear their reasons.

On a sidenote to our city council: Passing an item with a 3-2 vote with
one absent is a legit vote and passage, 3-2 with one abstention does not a
majority make.

That aside . . .

On the burner:

- Report on Quarterly Regional Breakfast, Public Transportation

- Public Hearing - North Main Street Rezone

- Public Hearing - Proposed Amendment of Title 4, Chapter 6, Section 5 of
Moscow City Code Providing for the Requirement of Bicycle Parking for
Commercial and Multi-Family Residential Development

Seeya round town, Moscow, because . . .
