Found some interesting stats for State of Washington average faculty and 
Full Professor Salaries from  " WSU Faculty Salary Report 2007" at 
http://www.wsu.edu/~collins/facultysalaryreport/

This may help to provide some facts for the discussion on pay cuts.

I'll dig a bit to see if I can find more recent stats, including UI.
