We should just select our politicians directly from prison.

Seems to me the presidents primary job duty is to uphold his oath of office:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

If a candidate can't uphold his marital oath, why should we believe said candidate will do better with this one?

OTOH, we also want a president that is good in a crisis.  If said candidate can't cover well when false accusations are made, do we want that candidate in office?

Either way, it seems like a telling litmus test to me.

shouldn't judge Cain before we know for sure whether or not he
actually committed adultery.  From what I've heard, she says he did
and he says he didn't.  Each one of them has reason enough to lie
about it.  I'm not a Cain supporter, but I hate to see someone
driven from the race because of sex.  As long as he sticks to human
beings old enough to legally consent to sex, I don't care what he
    does in the bedroom.

much in that regard, since the President doesn't
author legislation.  He's a public servant doing a
specific job.  I no more care if he is unfaithful to
his significant other than I care if my local
librarian is.  Which is not much, since it's not my
                    business.
