My wife drives a GEO Metro. She loves it. The motor recently went out. She could not fine another car that she liked or gets the milage it does. She finely had a new motor put in it. She get 50 to 53 on it. I get about 22 on my caravan.

But the hoopla surrounding this 40-mpg vehicle evokes BMW’s reintroduction of the Mini in 2002. Today the Mini costs between $17,000 and $30,000. The Smart Fortwo costs between $12,000 and $17,000. Still, this is no guarantee for success. While two-seat micro cars have been popular in Europe for decades, Smart is actually losing money in that market.
