Tuesday Growers Market Returns to the Moscow Food Co-op for 9th Season



The Moscow Food Co-op’s 2011 Tuesday Growers Market will open May 3. Located in the Co-op parking lot, the market runs from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday through the second week in October 2010. The Co-op Growers Market is held in conjunction with the Co-op’s free Tuesday concerts by local musicians.



Organic eggs, vegetables, herbs, flowers, ice cream, gluten-free breads, and cherries and blueberries are just some of the items that will be available each week.  This year the market is adding nutritional education, recipes, food samples and children’s activities every week. 



Learn food safety at the Growers Market through in May. Mackenzie Femreite, nutrition advisor for the University of Idaho Extension Nutrition Program will facilitate the activities.



May 10: Food Safety display. Spin the food safety wheel and win a food thermometer! Build a hamburger patty out of play dough and practice using a food thermometer correctly. 



May 17: Germ City! Go in the big germ tent and practice washing your hands.



May 24: Palouse Prairie Elementary School seed demonstrations



May 31: Come get a Henry the Hand coloring books and munch on germ bugs!



June 1: MyPyramid Day. Come see the giant MyPyramid, put food in the right food groups and make MyPyramid yogurt parfaits.
