Deb
Please reread what I said. I supported food stamps and welfare checks for the short term. What I am opposed to is the continuation of such payments that run into decades. What we need is programs that provide job opportunities for those that are unemployed and the incentive to take them. There is nothing morally wrong with being unemployed or in taking unemployment payments. The employer and employee have paid into this program. What is wrong is not getting off of it as soon as possible. I have a masters in Animal Nutrition. When I was out of work, I took a job with Sunset Mart at Troy on the midnight shift. At the same time I worked at WSU Veterinary School cleaning horse stables. I was able to get on with Crossroads Nursery doing landscaping. At that point I quit the Sunset job. When I was able to get on at AVS at the UI as a Research Support Scientist I quit Crossroads Nursery and the Stable job.
