Poach the salmon in the milk, spread a bit of the mayo on it for flavor, drink the beer.  Toss the fruit bars.  Can’t imagine why you bought them anyway.

As a quintessentially inept bachelor about the kitchen, is there a good general rule of thumb regarding refrigerated/frozen stuff when the power was out from 1:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.?  The fruit bars in the freezer were an easy, sodden, liquid call, but what about mayonnaise, milk, etc?  The salmon that was no longer frozen, but still cold?  Pabst Blue Ribbon would survive a nuclear bomb, but what should be tossed or kept?
