PRESS RELEASE

Re:  Alleged Abduction

On Friday, May 14, 2010 at approximately 8:00 am, a 12 year old female
was approached by an adult male in the park area near Lena Whitmore
School.  The victim stated the male attempted to grab her but she was
able to break away and she continued to the Moscow Junior High school
where she reported the incident to the staff.  

 

On Tuesday afternoon, May 18, 2010 it was determined the alleged
abduction reported on Friday, May 14, 2010 was a false report.
Investigators revisited with the juvenile victim and it was determined
the young girl fabricated the incident.  The case will be forwarded to
Youth Services so appropriate care can be provided to the juvenile.
