I wasn't refering specifically to whether "A ban on fossil fuels (oil) would virtually eliminate human life on Earth?" is true or not, but to Klingenberg's overall letter.
First he accuses greens of hating the poor. Then he suggests that a ban on fossil fuels is serously suggested. I've never heard that, at least.
But if we can find a way to ween our selves off of using so much, I'm all for that.
Obviously our society depends on fossil fuels. But we squander that fuel to our detriment. We don't need to be using so much, particularly if we need to start wars over it. That's sick.
That fact that we are so dependent on something that can have such serious negative impacts should be reason enough to figure out alternatives. Particularly when so many good ideas are out there.
Klingenberg's red herring, typical of a politician, doesn't address the consequences of our addiction to fossil fuels which to me is a crucial issue we need to face.
Glenn's question is probably facitious, and my intial post was meant to be sarcastic, but since he brought it up, I wonder if he thinks it's smart to be burning so much fossil fuel?
Does he think our planet can sustain itself if other countries use as much fossil fuel as we do per capita?
What about the poor people, our southern neighbors, and our grandkids, who ultimately will have to pay for the consequences of burning so much fossil fuel? Does he hate them, too?
I wouldn't even be addressing Klingenberg if he weren't running for office. But since he is, he's fair game to call out his bs.
