You're right Dan, you weren't exactly chicken little on the ridiculous notion that Obama could single handedly overturn the Second Amendment. Just not confident that he wouldn't leave it be...

DC wrote in part back in November 2008:
I'm not entirely confident that Obama is going to leave things as they are (and in my opinion, as they should
be), and I don't think we should look forward to some sort of challenge to the 2nd Amendment as Scott Dredge thinks we should have.

If you challenge one, which one is next? Why not the rest? Will they be stronger for it?
------

I don't think I replied to this, but the answers to your questions are 'pick one', 'no reason', 'yes'.

I’m
pleased to announce that, er, I don’t recall saying the “second
amendment would come under serious attack”, or even really thinking
it. Maybe I just get lumped in with the “conservative” element
here on the Vizzz, but I guess everyone arrow needs a target. I think the
man in the big chair has what he perceives to be bigger things on his plate.
I’ll worry about it when I hear someone is going to show up on my
doorstep asking what I’ve got and how many rounds I’ve got for it.
I’m confident the gun lobby will keep us well informed as to what’s
going down. Not much gets by them.

I’m far
more concerned with a few local things going on here recently that I wish I
could discuss, or at least hear what the Vizzz peeps think about it. I
just don’t want to be the one bringing it up, I guess. Suffice it
to say, a certain beacon on the hill could further harm its public perception
should things go a certain way . . . doing a lot of damage to what I’d
like to think is a relatively synergistic relationship.

I am pleased to announce that, so
far, I was wrong. I suspect the reason has more to do with BHO's fanatic
distraction with stimulous boondoggles and the heath care fiasco, combined with
a court that still has an appreciation for the constitution, then any lack
of desire.

Some 16 months ago when Obama was
elected a few of you (e.g, Kai, Gary, and Area Man) were lamenting about how we
were about to see to the 'Second Amendment come under serious attack', 'the
second amendment [being] in serious peril with the Obama, Pelosi, & Reed
team at bat and gun owners [hunters, etc.] have very good reason to be
concerned.', yada, yada.

Seems to me that the Second Amendment is not only holding up fine, but flexing
it's muscles quite nicely.
