[Vision2020] Say What?

It is sad some people, like Mr. Velarde,  that seek power and authority over others well belling still feel this way about teachers and gay teens struggling with their sexuality. : (

Teachers are not given money to retire. They earn it through years of teaching generations of children to be productive members of society. What could be more important or deserving of a retirement than this?

The Gay-Straight Alliance is a club I didn't benefit from because it didn't exist when I attended MSH. I had to help create one in North Idaho College after high school. There are millions of children that deal with their sexuality, and thousands that kill themselves because they cannot find the support and understanding they need. When I was in high school a person could not be out of the closet without being terrorized. And not just the gay person, but their friends and family were also terrorized. If you loved your family and friends, you stayed in the closet for them and their property. It is because of organizations like the Gay-Straight Alliance that this type of barbaric behavior is starting to come to an end in the United States.

In my opinion, anyone that doesn't value the service of teachers or the well-being of children is unfit to hold any political office or power of legal authority over others.

Best,

Never fear Deb, If it make more sense, he actually attended Lewiston High School.  He may have a UI degree though.  His comment seems to reference a college level professor though he has step-children in Moscow schools currently. He did have a position at the University in a Native American Studies department (something like that?)  after his volunteer DJ position with Radio Free Moscow and prior to his current position at Walmart.
