ITD invites public to comment on District 2 highways

Boise - The Idaho Transportation Department will hold a series of public
meetings for five corridor studies that are in progress across the
department's District 2.

The purpose of the studies is to understand corridor conditions and
needs and identify priority improvements to meet corridor and user needs
for the next 10 years. The final recommendations from the studies will
be used by the transportation department to prioritize funding to
implement the improvement projects. Corridors being studied include
segments of U.S. 95 from the Adams County line north to the Goff Bridge
north of Riggins, U.S. 95 from the Goff Bridge north to the Benewah
County line north of Potlatch, U.S. 12 from the Washington state line
east to the Clearwater National Forest boundary east of Kooskia, Idaho 8
from the Washington state line east to Troy, and 14 narrow and low
volume roadways in the district.

The purpose of the meetings is to gather public input regarding the
current and future needs of these corridors over the next ten years.

conditions, highlights of input already gathered and some possible
projects. Common issues already identified include unsafe intersections,
access control, insufficient lane capacity and passing lane length,
rockfall, congestion, drainage and wetland impacts, limited sight
distance, snow and ice removal, recreational access and wildlife
crashes.

Input received from these open houses will be added to input already
received and will be used to help develop the list of draft recommended
improvements which will be presented for public comment at a second
round of open house events later this summer.
