Perhaps one should rent a movie for a clue. The Sound of Music asked 
the question "What to do with Maria?" The answer, of course, was to 
marry her. Soon the marital partners found themselves in over their 
heads in a situation beyond their control with one partner asked to 
fight militarily against his own country.

Should Sarah Palin be successful in convincing the American electorate 
into a marriage of political proportions, it is not inconceivable 
that soon would follow situations beyond the marital partners' 
control because the situations are beyond the partners' abilities.

One does not have to send Maria back to the convent, nor does one have 
to send Sarah back to from whereever it was she came, to resolve the 
situation. It does suggest that selecting marital partners should be 
done with some care because predictably difficult situations require 
well-prepared and capable partners to master and succeed in them.
