CRAPO TO MEET WITH CLEARWATER BASIN COLLABORATIVE
Will speak on firearms legislation during ATK visit in Lewiston
Lewiston - Almost one year to the day after it was founded, Idaho Senator Mike Crapo will meet with the Clearwater Basin Collaborative group during a visit to north central Idaho on Thursday. The Collaborative held its first meeting on May 29, 2008, and was formed to assist in long-range planning that could resolve multiple-use disputes on issues in the Clearwater Basin.
Crapo and Collaborative members will discuss updates on the past Elk Collaborative and federal legislation that Crapo has sponsored, including last year's Forest Landscape Restoration Act. Crapo will offer an update on the Owyhee Initiative that was signed into law earlier this year and is now being implemented in southwest Idaho, as well as other potential collaborative ventures in Idaho.
While in Lewiston, Crapo will also tour the ATK Ammunition facilities and offer an update on S. 941, his legislation affecting firearms sales, dealers and owners. Crapo helped write firearms language affecting the transport of firearms across public lands and recently introduced legislation to reform enforcement standards utilized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) after hearing complaints from firearms dealers in Idaho and elsewhere.
